源自修女们的巧思 葡式蛋塔的历史
葡式蛋塔起源于里斯本贝伦区(Belém)的热罗尼姆斯修道院(JerónimosMonastery),相传是修道院中的修女们发明的。目前,这间古老的修道院已被联合国教科文组织列为世界遗产,而葡式蛋塔也同样流传到了全世界。

为什么会发明这道甜点呢?原来,当时修道院里的修士、修女,会拿蛋白来替洗涤完衣物上浆,为了不浪费剩下的蛋黄,正好拿来做酥皮和甜点,最终心灵手巧的修女们,发明了这种小巧可爱的点心。

到了1820年,波多(Porto)爆发革命,并迅速蔓延至全国。在动荡的局势下,修道院为了筹措经费,开始贩售葡式蛋塔。最后,修道院在1834年被迫关闭时,蛋塔的食谱被卖给了贝伦糕饼坊“Fábrica de Pastéis de Belém”的店主。这间糕饼店在1837年开始营业,距离修道院步行只需要三分钟,至今仍是游客络绎不绝的葡式蛋塔创始店。

虽然,至今世界各地都有不同版本的葡式蛋塔。但最初的蛋塔食谱,还是秘藏在贝伦糕饼坊之中。许多人说,修道院版本的蛋塔食谱,至今仍是葡萄牙料理界最大的秘密。根据当地人的说法,即使将“创始版”的“贝伦蛋塔”,混在20颗葡式蛋塔中,他们仍然能准确品尝出来。

其后,贝伦糕饼坊的葡式蛋塔远近驰名,并且,随着葡萄牙的贸易商与移民们,散布到世界各地。
