Jaycee Lee Dugard: Phillip Garrido and the 'unearthly' voices

The 58-year-old, described by his brother Ron as a "fruitcake", claims that the "gift" had helped him channel voices in his head to positive purposes.
He is convinced he was being used by God to bring about the salvation of humanity.
Garrido, already being nicknamed the American Fritzl, set out his ideas in a "report" which he claims to have handed to the authorities in California in August of last year.
Posted on the internet in his hitherto obscure blog recently, the report details how he toured clients of his printing businesses in 2006 demonstrating his powers with the help of a "sound generator".
He explains that he donned a "headphone amplification system" to help him focus on the voices in his head before relaying the message out loud.
His bemused clients were then asked to sign statements confirming that they witnessed him "controlling a voice or set of voices that are unearthly in nature".
They also were asked to confirm that he had "always acted mature and intelligent" in their previous dealings with him.
Last year he hired Ralph Hernandez, a private investigator, to visit each of them asking them to confirm that they had witnessed the demonstration.
His "investigation" is offered as evidence in the report to corroborate his powers.
Garrido also made a series of visits to the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, where he gave an open air "lecture" on his ideas last August.
It was on a recent visit to the campus, to hand out religious literature, that suspicions about him were aroused leading to him being called in for a probation interview at which it emerged that Jaycee Lee Dugard was being kept in his garden.
