Ecclesiastical History 這樣描述與會的主教:
Paul, bishop of Neo-Caesarea, a fortress situated on the banks of the Euphrates, had suffered from the frantic rage of Licinius. He had been deprived of the use of both hands by the application of a red-hot iron, by which the nerves which give motion to the muscles had been contracted and rendered dead. Some had had the right eye dug out, others had lost the right arm. Among these was Paphnutius of Egypt. In short, the Council looked like an assembled army of martyrs.

參予尼西亞會議的主教, 曾面對前任羅馬皇Diocletian戴克里先,Emperor Galerius伽列里烏斯 等的迫害, 面對挖眼, 斬手斷臂都不怕, 没有放棄信仰,
怎會突然間又會對君士旦丁害怕起來?
況且君士旦丁早擺出一副與教會為友, 歸皈的信徒了。
與會主教團會怕皇帝的臉色???
