無神論都可大致分兩種。
第二種好似我咁從未信過,才配稱白璧無瑕。

Georgia woman describes growing up in mom’s violent cult

Deep down, she always knew something wasn’t right on the north Florida farm where she grew up. Joy Fluker wanted the answers to the questions she’d always had. But she’d always really known the truth.

Fluker’s parents founded the House of Prayer for All People and invited others to join them at the rural compound, promising a better life through Biblical teachings. But those who came left with a dark secret they would keep for four decades. Fluker’s mother — known as Mother Anna — physically tortured the residents, leading to serious injuries and the death of at least one child, according to police.

Earlier this year, Fluker did what had once been unthinkable, she reported the behavior of her mother, Anna Elizabeth Young, to police. She was one of several people to come forward and in November a Florida grand jury indicted the 75-year-old on a charge of premeditated murder in the death of a young boy known as Moses. Young was arrested the next day at the Cobb County home where she had lived more than 15 years. Authorities labeled her a “cult leader.” Police believe countless others were victims of Young’s abuse and their investigation continues.

In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fluker described the abuse she witnessed, including the disappearance of Moses.

Separately, a Cobb County man, John Neal, also told The AJC about the abuse he endured and the death of his toddler sister, whom he says was routinely beaten as instructed by Mother Anna.

“She had 30 years of freedom,” Neal said. “She tortured kids. Anna Young was completely responsible for everything.”

Fluker, who now lives in Acworth, believes her parents wanted to help others in their community, including those with problems seemingly too big to handle alone.

“It started out as something good,” Fluker said. “They would minister to people. People would come there, people trying to get over drugs, alcohol. And sometimes, they would bring their children.”

Neal’s mother met Anna Young in either 1982 or 1983, when he was about 6 years old. Young offered to care for Neal and his younger sister while their mother worked, and his mother took Young up on the offer. Initially, the Youngs were very kind, Neal said.

But Anna believed Neal’s sister, Katonya, had a demon inside her, Neal said. As punishment, Young instructed both Neal and Fluker to beat the little girl, who hadn’t yet reached her third birthday. Neal, who now calls his sister “K,” says Young turned him against his sibling.

I remember she would have K running in place saying, ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,’ over again, talking about the demons in her,” Neal said. “She would beat her on her feet. Or she would make her stand up for hours and hours and not sleep.”

His sister was also starved, Neal said. When K began having seizures, Young took her to the doctor, but refused to give the child medication, Neal said. In the fall of 1983, the 2½-year-old had a massive seizure and went into cardiac arrest, Neal said. She died at the hospital, where she had been on life support two days.

His sister was buried by the time Neal’s biological mother was told of her death. His mother was questioned, but no charges were ever filed. Neal, a married father of two, is hopeful investigators will re-open the investigation.

“It just went away. Nothing was ever done,” said Neal, who now lives in Kennesaw. “It was a complete travesty what happened to my little sister.”

Attempts to reach a lawyer representing Young were unsuccessful.

Young has been charged with killing another child, a young boy who died several years after K did. Emon Harper was known as Moses, according to Fluker and Neal. Fluker believed her mother had adopted Moses, who was about 3 years old the last time he was seen alive.

“One day he just wasn’t around anymore,” Fluker said.

Her mother told her Moses had been given to monks who would raise him. Neal was told Moses was in a better place, and the time, he believed it.

Neal was tasked with caring for Moses and the two spent a lot of time together. The last time Neal saw Moses, the two were together in the garden when Young called for the little boy. Moses grabbed tight onto Neal’s legs to resist Young, who picked him anyway.

“She came and got him, and that was the last time I ever saw him,” Neal said.

Although Young never told those on the farm Moses was dead, Fluker always suspected it, she said. She always wanted answers about what had happened. According to her indictment, Young starved, tortured and caged Moses until he died.

He survived the abuse, but Neal’s scars won’t let him forget what he endured, including a beating he says nearly killed him. His punishment was 33 lashes because Jesus was 33 years old when he died, Neal said. But if he moved during the beating, the lashes would start again at number one.

“She had the men taking turns beating me bloody,” Neal said. “They beat the hell out of me.”

Often, Neal was forced to hide when others came near the farm. Later, he was sent to Georgia and Michigan to live with Young’s relatives before he was later returned to Florida. When Neal was 12, he said his mother found the courage to take him from the Youngs and the two moved to Georgia.

Fluker, a married mother of three, says her mother’s untreated mental illness is to blame for the abuse. Young should be charged for her crimes, but needs treatment, Fluker said. As more of her childhood memories returned during her adult life, Fluker said she had no choice but to contact police, even if it meant angering her siblings and other family members.

She does love God, I believe. But she has a sick mind,” Fluker said. “My mom does have mental illness. If people had spoken up a long time ago, those lives could have been spared.”

Young, Fluker says, has two very different sides. There is the kind side, a charismatic woman willing to help others. But there is the darker side, the Anna Young that has abused countless children and adults in her drive to be loved, Fluker said. Young previously served prison time for a separate abuse case after burning a 12-year-old girl with chemicals. But Young could face the rest of her life behind bars if she’s convicted of murder.

“She’s not insane,” Neal said. “But she knows right from wrong. She didn’t do it to her own family, she did it to other people.”

Young, who turns 76 on Dec. 14, was being held late Thursday at the Cobb County jail. She has waived extradition, but investigators declined to comment on when she may be returned to Florida’s Alachua County.

Two cult members busted in grisly death of ‘chief apostle’

A self-described “chief apostle” of a religious cult was beaten to death and dismembered by two other members, who scattered his body parts across a Connecticut city – all at the behest of the leader’s wife.

Rudy Hannon and Sorek Minery were busted this week in the death of Paul Sweetman, 70, a high-ranking member of the cult known as “The Work,” which gained hundreds of followers in the 1980s and ‘90s, the Hartford Courant reported.

Sweetman once threatened Connecticut lawmakers who were considering legalizing same sex marriage with the wrath of “Julius Christ” — the cult’s leader Julius Schacknow.

An arrest warrant that was released Wednesday reveal disturbing details into Sweetman’s July 2004 murder, the grim result of a fight for control of the cult after Schacknow’s passing.

Sweetman’s wife Joanne ordered for him to be killed, according to the Courant, and Hannon spent months trying to convince Minery that Sweetman “needed to be killed because he was hurting his wife … and that God would have wanted them to kill Sweetman,” the warrant said.

Minery said he respected Joanne, who was known in the cult as “the holy spirit,” as a “high religious figure,” court papers said.

In statements to police, Hannon and Minery pointed the finger at each other, telling different accounts of what happened.

Minery told police he found Hannon standing over Sweetman’s body at a construction office in Southington and that he’d asked Minery for help in disposing the body. Hannon claimed, however, that it was Minery who beat Sweetman and believed he was still alive.

Both men agreed that they stuffed Sweetman’s body into a freezer — with Hannon saying heavy items were placed on top to prevent him from escaping — and then using an electric saw to hack off his body parts.

“Minery stated that he used an electric saw and dismembered the body while it was still in the freezer,” the warrant said. “Minery stated he remembers cutting off the head easily and cutting off both legs.”

Sweetman’s legs and head were buried in the woods near the New Britain reservoir, while his torso and arms were shoved into garbage bags and tossed into a hole under a shed, which was then covered in concrete, Minery told police.

The parts under shed were excavated in 2016 and testing showed the torso was Sweetman’s. Gold jewelry was also found – two rings, including one that was engraved with “Joanne.”

Part of one of the legs, likely dug up by a coyote, had turned up at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club golf course in August 2004, just weeks after Sweetman’s slaying.

His wife had filed a missing persons report for him then — which New Britain police was able to connect to the severed leg in 2016 by taking a DNA sample from his son in order to make the match.

It was then that police also learned that, in 2006, the FBI had interviewed Hannon who told them Minery killed Sweetman.

It’s unclear why that information didn’t make its way to local police.

Hannon, 72, was charged Tuesday in Sweetman’s death while Minery, 42, was nabbed Wednesday. Both are being held on $2 million bond.

Hannon had already been serving a prison sentence in Nevada for violating his probation in another case.

Joanne, who was previously married to Schacknow, died in 2011.

Schacknow gained a following in central Connecticut by styling himself as Jesus Christ reincarnated and then duped his followers into running a multi million-dollar real estate and construction business. The business — and cult — crumbled toward the end of the ’80s.
He was known to be generous, offering money to those in need and sheltering kids in times of trouble.

But victims later revealed that he plied them with cigarettes and candy and offered them his own bed. The boys reported waking up to find the naked priest on top of them.

Utah doomsday cult leader sentenced
https://fox13now.com/2018/08/08/ ... t-leader-sentenced/

MANTI, Utah — The leader of a central Utah doomsday cult has been sentenced to serve 26-to-life in prison for child bigamy and sodomy.

John Alvin Coltharp was sentenced in Manti’s 6th District Court on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in June to the charges. In exchange, Sanpete County prosecutors dismissed kidnapping and obstruction of justice charges.

In strong words to the judge, Sanpete County Attorney Kevin Daniels said he wished he could have sought the death penalty against Coltharp because of the trauma inflicted on the children.

Coltharp himself delivered a rambling speech complete with a prophecy about the end of times and declared himself the reincarnation of Old Testament prophets.

“My marriage was the right thing to do,” Coltharp said of the crimes. “If I’m a sex offender for what I’ve done. If I go to the other side, I’ll be in good company with all those other sex offenders.”

Coltharp declared there was a war against straight, white men in the world and blamed feminism. He told the judge he had religious freedom to practice his beliefs, which included child marriage.

Midway through his remarks, Coltharp declared the Lord was directing him to speak.

“There’s changes coming to the world, including this state,” he said. “Those changes are close. This government will be overthrown as will all the governments of the world.”

He was unapologetic about any trauma caused to the children, arguing that the state inflicted that on them.

“I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I taught it to my children and wives, and I’m sorry for the things they had to suffer that are truly bad,” Coltharp told the judge.

Coltharp was a leader in the tiny, apocalyptic group known as the “Knights of the Crystal Blade” based in Spring City. Prosecutors described them as a “fundamentalist group for Millenials,” saying members met on Facebook. There are believed to only be a half dozen members.

An AMBER Alert was issued last year for four children reported missing in central Utah. Police found two of them in a mobile home west of Cedar City. Two others were recovered hiding in empty water barrels with temperatures dipping near freezing. Iron County prosecutors alleged the children likely would have died in those conditions.

Coltharp was charged alongside Samuel Shaffer. Shaffer told Iron County Sheriff’s deputies he was “betrothed” to Coltharp’s 8-year-old daughter. Shaffer also told police Coltharp was married to his 7-year-old daughter.

Shaffer pleaded guilty in Cedar City’s 5th District Court and is serving 26-to-life in prison for child rape and child abuse.

Sanpete County prosecutors filed a felony charge against another member of the Knights of the Crystal Blade. Robert Roe, 35, was charged with first-degree felony sodomy on a child. Daniels alleges Roe took a 5-year-old girl as a bride.

He’s scheduled to appear in court in October.
